To allow me to draw your pet(s) with as much detail as possible, I will need the best, most highly detailed pictures you may have. Photos which show the eyes clearly are ideal, especially since eyes are ‘windows into the soul’, allowing me to capture your pet’s personality and expression with great accuracy.
If you aren’t sure of which photo to choose, my guide below will help you pick the perfect one.
If you have a specific paper size in mind that’s not on my price table, please contact me and I’ll be able to offer you a custom sized portrait along with a price quote.
Shipping
Shipping within the UK is included in my portrait prices.
For anywhere else out with the UK, please contact me for your shipping quote.
Backgrounds
Normally, I leave the background of the portrait blank but if you would prefer to have a detailed background, this would be +15% added onto your portrait price.
Additional Number Of Pets
If you would like to have more than one pet in a portrait, this would be an extra 15% per pet. If you're unsure as to whether your chosen portrait size will fit your number of pets, please don't hesitate to ask me where I'll help you choose the perfect size to fit everyone in.
When ordering a portrait of multiple pets, please note that they don’t need to be in the same photo as each other. It would actually be better if each pet had their own separate photo for me to work from, allowing as much individual detail as possible and in order for each pet to have their own space within the portrait.
Framing
As I believe the framing process is personal to you, all my portraits will be shipped unframed, allowing you to choose a frame to fit your taste.
Photo Guide
The most important part of any photograph I receive is quality. The higher the photographic quality, the more detail I can include in your portrait. You are more than welcome to email your photos to me where I can tell you if they’re suitable to work from and help you decide which photo to choose.
Good Photos
In order for me to have the optimum photo to work from, they should ideally be:
- High resolution, taken with a digital camera if possible. A high quality phone camera would also be fine.
- Taken outside in natural daylight. The best lighting condition is a slightly overcast day and not in direct sunlight as it may wash out the real colours of your pet.
- Taken on the same level as pet.
- A good way of checking whether your photo is detailed enough is by zooming in on your pet’s face. If there is good reflection in the eyes and you are able to see individual little hairs in their fur, it is an ideal quality photo for me to work from.
Bad Photos
Here are some examples of what makes a bad photo:
- If your pet is too far away from the camera and there are no details/details are blurry when zooming in.
- Blurry photos make it difficult to see any details at all. Unfortunately, I can only draw what I see.
- Photos should not show your pet in artificial light as it drastically changes their natural fur colour.
Pets Who Have Passed
If you would like to commission a portrait of a pet that has passed away and photos are limited, this is absolutely fine. Please send me as many pictures as you can and I will help you choose the best one.
